From the first day of the war he went to the front as a volunteer. From December 1941 he was sent to courses for command personnel, then to the reserve unit. From the autumn of 1943 he was again at the front. He commanded a company of the 33rd rifle division of the 2nd army.
Died in battles near Memel (now Klaipeda) on November 23, 1944.
