A dialogue platform with JSC Belagroprombank was held today at RUE "Special Communications". The speakers were representatives of the bank Oleg Vladimirovich and Maria Valterovna, who spoke about the types of fraud and how to protect themselves.
During the dialogue, the main types of fraud were discussed:
1. "Your card/account has been hacked"
A call on behalf of the bank's security service or the police. Fraudsters report an attempt at an unauthorized transfer or loan processing and ask for personal information.
2. "A relative in need"
is often aimed at teenagers and the elderly. A teenager gets a call informing him that his parents are responsible for the accident. To resolve the issue, the child is forced to hand over all valuables and money to the courier.
Elderly people can receive a call in the voice of their grandson (deepfake) who has been in an accident, asking them to urgently bring cash to the hospital.
3. Droppery (involving young people)
Teenagers and students are offered easy earnings: "rent a card" or "help transfer money for a percentage." Young people open accounts, receive stolen amounts on them and forward them further along the chain.
How to recognize a fraudster's call
Criminals always use psychological pressure. They are trying to deceive you if the other person:
* Creates a sense of urgency and panic ("the money will be debited right now").
* Asks you to provide a one-time SMS code, PIN code or CVC code of the card.
* Offers to install a third-party application (especially not from the official App Store/Google Play).
* Talks about easy earnings without effort and risks.
Be vigilant in any situation and do not share your data with unauthorized persons.
