  On the picturesque shore of the Western Dvina River, in the estate of the great Russian artist Ilya Yefimovich Repin, we strolled along the linden alley, which was planted by the master himself, went down to the river and felt the atmosphere of untouched Belarusian nature, captured on the canvases of the painter.

  The Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk recreates the life of a poor Jewish family of the artist at the beginning of the 20th century. Household items, old photographs and the first works of the master are kept here.

  In Polotsk, the cradle of spirituality and enlightenment, we visited St. Sophia Cathedral, built in the 11th century in the image of the temples of Constantinople and Kiev, where we heard the sound of an organ, and saw fragments of 11th-century masonry in the dungeon. 

  The relics of the heavenly patroness of the Belarusian land were touched at the Spaso-Euphrosyne Monastery. The Museum of Belarusian Book Printing told about the five—hundred-year history of books in the Belarusian lands - from handwritten parchments to modern editions.

  The journey allowed us to trace the path from the ancient monastery walls of Polotsk through the cozy streets of Chagall's hometown to the quiet country estate of Repin, linking the epochs with a single thread of great culture and getting a lot of positive emotions.
